Vangirl Adventures - Part 1... Christmas at the seaside

It's another year and another chance to live your best life... That's just what I was doing over the festive period. There's nothing quite like getting together with a bunch of chums who share your passion for life and doing some crazy stuff!

So, after a lovely wet and muddy Christmas Eve mountain bike ride with some girly shredders up on Dartmoor, the dogs and I hopped back in Buttercup and headed to the South Devon coast.

We arrived just as the sun was starting to set over the bay and found a space to park up for the night. The dogs were super excited to get out and bound across the sand, chasing pebbles and avoiding the crashing waves as the tide came in. After a blast of fresh air, there was only one thing to do... cook my traditional Christmas Eve dish of linguine carbonara and open the fizz!

The next morning I woke early (dogs woke me, not just the sheer excitement as to whether Santa had found me!) and was rewarded with the most stunning view over the water, as the sun started to rise. I banged on George's door and told her to get her arse moving, as it was time for our sunrise swim... I honestly don't think either of us were prepared for just how amazing the experience was going to be.

The weather was perfect, the sky awash with every colour imaginable, and although chilly, the sea was calm and left us feeling re-balanced, alive and at one with the world.

As we sat on the beach reflecting on our new dawn swim, we discussed what fills our souls with joy, and realised cold feet was not one of those things... why on earth didn't we wear our wet shoes? However, George found that the use of green tea was a suitable way to warm her feet; so all was well with the world again!

The water remained calm until after lunch when I chose to go for a SUP around the coves and Thatchers Rock. Bad timing as the wind picked up, but still a stunning paddle and such a great way to explore the coastline... Although the large cruise ship sheltering in a tiny cove did scare the life out of me!

As the storm clouds gathered and the day came to an end, we all snuggled up and enjoyed looking back on such a beautiful day... even the dogs were feeling the Christmas love.
